Franciscan Health Indianapolis is a faith-based community hospital that is part of the integrated 14 hospital system, Franciscan Health. Locally, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist preceptors provide direct patient care services in many areas of the hospital and ambulatory settings. The residency year is flexible and tailored to the interests and goals of the resident. Required learning experiences include: Orientation, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics/Neonatal ICU, Adult Critical Care, Administration, and Longitudinal Ambulatory Care. Elective learning experience opportunities include but are not limited to: Emergency Medicine, Transitions of Care, Cardiac Surgery, a focused month in Ambulatory Care, and Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant. In addition to clinical learning experiences, the residency offers a variety of teaching opportunities, including the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program (IPTec). Completion and presentation of a research project at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference is required.

Franciscan Health Indianapolis is located south of downtown Indianapolis and minutes away from Butler University. The hospital has one of only two bone marrow transplant centers in Indiana as well as award-winning cardiac and vascular services. The hospital is affiliated with Butler University's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Franciscan Health Indianapolis has an active Family Medicine residency program, with which the resident will interact throughout various learning experiences. Pharmacy services are supported by decentralized clinical staff pharmacists and clinical pharmacy specialists who are located on the majority of patient care units. The resident staffs every 3rd weekend as part of their longitudinal service.
