Residency Special Features:   

The program provides comprehensive training opportunities in order to prepare the resident for a career as a critical care specialist or an appointment as clinical faculty at a college of pharmacy. Required learning experiences include: Medical (Butterworth), Medical/Burn (Blodgett), Surgical, Cardiothoracic, Neurological, Pediatric or Neonatal, and Emergency Medicine. Elective learning experiences include: Infectious Disease, Adult Solid Organ Transplant, Toxicology, and Academia.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Pharm.D. or equivalent from an accredited college of pharmacy, completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 residency, and eligibility for Michigan licensure.

Spectrum Health Grand Rapids (SHGR) is a major health care system with adult and children's hospitals on 3 campuses consisting of a total of 1044 beds. SHGR is a regional referral center for the west Michigan region and includes a Level 1 Trauma Center, burn unit, certified stroke center, and specializes in cardiovascular surgery. Fifteen medical residency programs are provided. Adjunct faculty status is available with Ferris State University.
