Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the Borgess post graduate year one (PGY-1) residency program is to create well-rounded, competent clinical practitioners of pharmaceutical care. The program integrates residents into the medication use process so they develop a firm understanding of the clinical, distributive, and administrative aspects of the pharmacy profession. The residency provides a framework for the practitioner to develop the skills necessary for providing pharmaceutical care in a variety of different health care settings. Core rotations include Orientation, ID Block/ Pharmacokinetics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care and Administration with longitudinal rotations for Code Zero, Heart Failure Clinic, Leadership, Medication Use Process, Practice Development and Project Management. The program is flexible and allows individuals to pursue rotations in areas such as heart failure, academia, antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases, anticoagulation, pharmacokinetics, drug information, management, information systems, and long-term acute care.
