Residency Special Features:   

This residency program allows for broad-based clinical and professional development. Residents will receive training in various areas including Ambulatory Care Clinics, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine & Psychiatry. Endocrinology & Administrative Practice Management are some of the electives available. Residents will have the opportunity to teach and precept students from universities in Ohio. They will complete a teaching certificate from University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy or Cedarville University. Additional learning activities include: journal clubs, completion of a research project, P&T responsibilities, CE presentation, ADR reporting, pharmacy newsletter, QA monitoring, quarterly preceptor development sessions. Some rotations are designed longitudinally to enhance patient care activities. Staffing requirements: Inpatient/Outpatient staffing every other weekend and one hour lunch coverage/month.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

U.S. citizenship, Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college, curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, letter of intent, three letters of references [Note: For Letters of Recommendation/references, please use the ASHP Standardized Reference Form available in PhORCAS. Narrative comments are required]. Applicants from schools that do not have GPAs must also supply a letter from the school designating their class rank.

Site Special Features:   

The Dayton VA Medical Center is affiliated with Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine and various colleges of pharmacy. It is a major teaching site for physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other health professionals. Extensive outpatient clinic services are provided within the facility and at four community based primary care clinics. Pharmacy service provides contemporary, computerized medication distribution areas and a wide range of clinical services. Through our clinical and staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy department provides clerkships for all instate and several out of state colleges of pharmacy.
