Residency Special Features:   As a member of UC Health, West Chester Hospital (WCH) seeks to fulfill our system-wide mission of advancing medicine and improving the health of all people, in addition to creating outstanding patient experiences and offering excellent patient care. With that aim in mind, West Chester Hospital offers an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. The PGY1 Residency is a 12-month, structured training program designed to develop competence in providing the highest level of pharmaceutical care. The program will be individualized based upon the resident's level of knowledge, skills, and interests. Elective rotations allow the resident to further pursue interests related to their personal career objectives. PGY1 Residents will join a robust preceptor team who serve as experts in their area of practice. WCH Department of Pharmacy has Clinical Specialists in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Disease and Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hematology and Oncology, Ambulatory Care and additional pharmacy services provided in Surgery and Transitions of Care. The PGY1 Resident will be trained in Pharmacy Consult Services including Pharmacokinetic Dosing and Monitoring, Nutrition Support, Anticoagulation, Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Patient Falls and Polypharmacy, and Medication Reconciliation. The Resident is also encouraged to complete a Teaching Certificate Program offered through the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy.
 
Fringe Benefits:   Pharmacy residents will receive a competitive stipend, paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, ACLS certification, ASHP/OSHP/GCSHP Membership for 1 year, 27 days of paid time off (includes vacation days, selected holidays, educational leave and sick leave). In addition, residents will receive a travel allowance for professional meetings (ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Pharmacy Residency Research Conference).
 
Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Eligibility for Ohio licensure, Pharm.D., prior training or experience in institutional pharmacy preferred. The following items must be submitted via PhORCAS: (1) Curriculum vitae (2) Letter of intent (3) Official transcript from an accredited college of pharmacy.
