Residency Special Features:   Program emphasizes broad-based clinical training. Core experiences in internal medicine, intensive care, ambulatory care, infectious diseases and practice management. Elective rotations in psychiatry, geriatrics, oncology, emergency room, cardiology and more. Resident participates in medication-use evaluation, ambulatory care clinics, rounds, research/QA project, adverse drug reaction reporting, precepting students, and presentations. Upon completion of residency, the resident will be well prepared to assume a clinical position in internal medicine or go on to a specialty PGY-2 residency.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D., curriculum vitae, letter of intent, U.S. citizenship, transcript with GPA or class rank if school does not calculate GPA. Three references, with two being from clinical preceptors using the PhORCAS reference format. Licensure within 90 days of starting residency.

Site Special Features:   The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University and several colleges of pharmacy, and is a major teaching site for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care personnel. It provides acute, long-term, and ambulatory care services in medicine, surgery, and psychiatry. Pharmacy service utilizes contemporary, fully computerized drug distribution system. A large staff of clinical pharmacy specialists, dedicated inpatient and outpatient pharmacists, and pharmacy residents collaborate to provide a wide range of clinical services.
