Residency Special Features:   The residency program with Mercy Health - St. Charles Hospital allows the resident to experience a wide range of clinical areas tailored to the resident's individual interests. The residency is based at St. Charles Hospital but offers rotations at St. Vincent Medical Center and St. Anne Hospital. Required rotations include orientation and 1 month each of internal medicine, ambulatory family practice, infectious disease and critical care . Required longitudinal rotations include pharmacy practice, practice management, anticoagulation clinic, committee involvement, drug information, and research. A teaching certificate is coordinated through Ohio Northern University. Elective rotations include ambulatory care (various), cardiology, emergency medicine, nephrology, oncology, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.

Site Special Features:   St. Charles Mercy is a level III trauma community Hospital with a large Behavioral Health Institute on site. St.Vincent Medical Center is a level I trauma medical center with Mercy Childrens Hospital on site. St. Anne Hospital is a community hospital with the areas only Senior Emergency department. All three institutions are university-affiliated offering opportunities for the resident to assist in training of pharmacy students. Pharmacy services include centralized and decentralized services. Clinical pharmacy programs provide services such as pharmacokinetic dosing, drug information, counseling, outpatient anticoagulation services, etc. Mercy Health allows the resident exposure to advanced technologies such as ADMIN-RX, physician order entry (EPIC), and robotic technology.
