Residency Special Features:   

Allows for individualization based upon the professional interest of each resident while ensuring a broad base of professional development in all aspects of pharmacy practice. Rotating member of multidisciplinary primary care teams (PACTs) throughout the year working under a collaborative practice agreement to provide direct patient care services. Acute care learning experiences in internal medicine and critical care and function as an active member of those teams. Required learning experiences in administration, practice management, drug information, formulary management, medication use evaluation, medication reconciliation, adverse drug event reporting, telehealth anticoagulation services and medication safety monitoring. Teaching and precepting responsibilities for pharmacy students from five major universities and will complete a teaching certificate from the James L. Winkle University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. Performance and presentation of a major project is required.

Site Special Features:   Integrated healthcare system consisting of an acute care hospital affiliated with the University of Cincinnati Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy. Extensive outpatient clinic services within the facility and at six community based primary care clinics. Additionally, there is a 131-bed nursing home and 72-bed domiciliary. Offers a full range of medical, surgical, psychiatric, and extended-care services. Training is provided for more than 1,000 health care professionals including medical and surgical residents and fellows in 24 clinical specialties, pharmacy residents and students, nurses, and other health professionals.
