Residency Special Features:   This residency program allows residents to train in a challenging academic setting with opportunities available in almost every aspect of hospital pharmacy. Beyond the required rotations residents are able to tailor their experience with six elective rotations. There are over 15 elective rotations to choose from including critical care, internal medicine, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, solid organ transplantation, neonatology, cardiology, obstetrics, and neurology to name a few. Other opportunities include the completion of a teaching certificate program, major project, and presenting at regional and national professional meetings.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   The applicant must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college or school of Pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in Alabama. All applications must be submitted through PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application System). The required components of the application that must be submitted includes a letter of intent, 3 references, a photograph of the applicant, curriculum vitae, and a pharmacy school transcript. For the letter of intent, the applicant should state his or her future career goals and explain how the UAB Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program can help with the achievement of these goals. For references, it is encouraged that at least two of these be from clinical rotation preceptors. The reference forms in PhORCAS must be completed by all 3 references. A letter of recommendation from each reference is not required.
