Residency Special Features:   

The cardiology residency is a one-year specialty residency that offers in-depth experience in all areas of cardiovascular medicine including general cardiology, heart failure, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac intensive care, mechanical circulatory support/heart transplantation, ambulatory/transitions of care cardiology, and electives in medicine (intensive care and acute care), emergency medicine, and solid organ transplantation. The primary emphasis of the program is to develop clinicians with expertise in the care of cardiology patients. Residents completing the program are expected to demonstrate competency in the areas of contemporary pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, teaching and clinical research.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completion of pharmacy practice residency or general clinical residency, eligibility for licensure in Kentucky, ACLS certification and the Standardized Reference Form provided in PhORCAS.
