Residency Special Features:   This one-year specialized residency focuses on diverse experiences in pediatrics and neonatal medicine. The University of Kentucky Medical Center has a 189-bed children's hospital including 43 general pediatric beds, 16 ICU beds, 12-bed progressive care unit, 26-bed newborn nursery, 8-bed neonatal abstinence unit, 14-bed dedicated pediatric emergency department, and 70 neonatal ICU beds. Residents participate in clinical rounds, clinical conferences, grand rounds, and other meetings. Rotation schedules are tailored to the interests of the resident. Available rotations include pediatric medicine, hematology/oncology, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, CT Surgery/cardiology, nephrology, neurology, surgery, pulmonology, high-risk OB, infectious diseases and pediatric emergency medicine. Ambulatory care rotations are available in pediatric neurology, hematology-oncology, cardiology, and cystic fibrosis/pulmonary medicine.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency. Eligibility for licensure in Kentucky. PALS and ACLS certification.
