Residency Special Features:   This residency is an ASHP-accredited PGY1 program. The purpose of the Erlanger Health System Pharmacy Practice Residency is to guide the resident's growth and development in order to provide the resident with the skills to competently manage their personal pharmacy practice in any healthcare environment; efficiently and effectively educate, communicate, and interact with patients and other healthcare providers all with varying levels of understanding; take personal responsibility for self-assessing and directing professional growth through the development of effective practice habits; adapt and manage varying daily demands in pharmacy practice. Pharmacy residents are a vital component of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team with abundant opportunities to have a profound impact on patient care. Rotations and experiences include infectious diseases, internal medicine, pediatric medicine, cardiology, research, trauma critical care, cardiothoracic critical care, pulmonary critical care, family medicine, nutrition support, pediatric oncology, pediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, ambulatory oncology, renal transplant clinic, HIV ambulatory clinic, pharmacy practice, and management. Residents will be exposed to ample teaching opportunities including pharmacy student precepting and provision of education to medical staff. Learning experiences will be tailored to meet the resident's individual needs and interests.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D., from ACPE-accreditaed pharmacy school, eligibility for Tennessee Licensure, U.S. citizen, other information as provided to phORCAS.
