Residency Special Features:   The program focuses on the training of multiple aspects of adult oncology/hematology pharmacy practice. This program is located at the center of a tristate network of outpatient oncology services. The resident rotations will include clinical rotations in solid organ tumors, hematological tumors, hemapoetic stem cell transplant, oncology practice management, teaching, staffing and investigational drug services,. Residents will complete a residency project for presentation at the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) annual conference. Teaching responsibilities will include precepting pharmacy students, providing nursing in-services, and optional participation in teaching certificate program through the University of Tennessee. Staffing responsibilities will include specialty pharmacy services, infusion clinics and participating in the pharmacogenomics program and smoking cessation clinic. Additionally, the resident will attend multidisciplinary committees related to patient care based upon their rotation schedule.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   BS or PharmD, Eligibility for Tennessee Registered Pharmacist licensure, academic transcripts, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation. Enrollment and completion of a PGY1 program. An early commitment process is available for PGY1 Residents of the Baptist Memorial Health Care System (Baptist Memorial- Memphis, Desoto, and North Mississippi).

Site Special Features:   This residency is located on the Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis campus. The campus contains 3 oncology/hematology clinics, part of the 20 outpatient infusion clinics system across the tri-state area. The Cancer Center campus in Memphis consists of a combined 45 infusion chairs, 3 independent satellite pharmacies, an outpatient specialty pharmacy, investigation drug services and administrative offices. The majority of the residency is spent in the outpatient areas; however, the resident will spend time rounding in our Memphis Hospital during hematology rotations. Our cancer center program is proud to be QOPI and COC certified, FACT accredited, a Bonnie J Addario Lung Cancer Center for Excellence, Oncology Care Model participant and research programs affiliated with NCI/NCORP, Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, and Cancer Moonshot Implementation.
