Residency Special Features:   The specialty residency in pediatric pharmacotherapy gives the resident the opportunity to gain expertise in a number of pediatric patient care settings including the core areas of general pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, and pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT. Elective rotations include opportunities in other pediatric areas such as clinical management, emergency medicine, endocrine, infectious disease, mother baby/newborn nursery, nephrology, palliative care, and psychiatry. Furthermore, the resident completes an ambulatory care experience in our Pediatric Specialty Outpatient Clinic. The resident will also participate in precepting pharmacy students as well as present formal lectures at the College of Pharmacy. Additionally, the resident will have the opportunity to complete the PEPPR teaching certificate program offered through the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Completion of a formal clinical research project is required.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency, and eligibility for Iowa licensure. Completed application, college transcripts, three letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, and letter of intent.
