Residency Special Features:   

The pharmacy practice residency program is designed to develop self-directed practitioners that will enhance pharmaceutical care and develop leadership and administrative skills. Core rotations include critical care, internal medicine, infectious diseases, oncology, transition of care, administration, and drug policy. Elective rotations may include family medicine, informatics, cardiology, and others. An in-depth experience in the areas of pharmacokinetics and antibiotic stewardship will occur throughout the year. Residents present lectures and in-services to pharmacy and hospital staff, as well as participate in various committees. Residents also achieve ACLS certification and actively respond to code situations. Finally, residents complete a teaching certificate program through the University of Iowa and may participate in the education of pharmacy students during APPE and IPPE rotations, didactic lectures, and assisting with labs.
