Residency Special Features:   Iowa Methodist Medical Center partners with Drake University to offer an extensive didactic teaching experience including the completion of a teaching certification and the opportunity to coordinate an elective course in the spring. Additionally, each resident will have multiple opportunities to precept experiential students throughout the year. In addition to our strong teaching component, Iowa Methodist offers a robust residency experience including required rotations in: internal medicine, critical care, infectious disease, pediatrics, management, medication safety (longitudinal), clinical management (longitudinal), hospital practice (longitudinal), and ambulatory care (longitudinal,. Additional elective rotations include: pediatric ICU, pediatric infectious disease, renal transplant, cardiology, oncology, surgery/trauma & emergency medicine. Additionally, residents are encouraged to develop their leadership skills through appointment to various committees at both the local and system level.

Iowa Methodist Medical Center, a 450 bed comprehensive medical center and teaching hospital, is the primary teaching site for the pharmacy residency program.  Iowa Methodist Medical Center is a level I trauma center.  One of two in the state of Iowa. The institution provides a wide variety of services, ranging from cancer care, short-term rehabilitation, cardiovascular surgery, renal transplant, stroke and maternity care. As a teaching hospital, Iowa Methodist Medical Center offers a variety of residency programs for new health care professionals including medical, pharmacy, podiatry & nursing programs, which allows for multi-disciplinary collaboration. Blank Children's Hospital, which is a stand-alone pediatric hospital located on the Methodist Medical Center campus, specializes in neonatal and pediatric intensive care, pediatric hematology/oncology services as well as general pediatric care.
