Residency Special Features:   Pharmacy residents at Olathe Medical Center will have opportunities to practice in a variety of settings in a community non-profit hospital. The pharmacy department at OMC supports involvement in professional organizations and emphasizes opportunities in leadership as well as teaching and mentoring pharmacy students. Staffing obligations are balanced with one compensation day off within the month. Residents work closely with departmental leadership and will gain experience in pharmacy management in addition to medication use policy. Learning experiences are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the individual resident.
Fringe Benefits:   Residents receive paid vacation, sick leave, health/life insurance, travel reimbursement to professional meetings, and dues to ASHP and the state/local organization. OMC provides resources for residents to complete a teaching certificate program if desired.
Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. degree, eligibility for licensure in Kansas, completed application including curriculum vitae, academic transcripts and 3 Phorcas reference forms (minimum 5 completed fields).

Site Special Features:   Olathe Medical Center is a comprehensive, acute care hospital serving the city of Olathe, Kansas and surrounding communities in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Inpatient services include critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, neurology, nephrology, orthopedics, urology, labor and delivery and level II NICU. Olathe Medical Center is an accredited chest pain center and primary stroke center. Olathe Medical Center provides experiential training for pharmacy students from the University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City. Required learning experiences include internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, antimicrobial stewardship and professional education seminar. Longitudinal learning experiences include practice management, staffing, transitions of care and project/research. Elective learning experiences include infectious disease, rural health, post-surgical care, emergency medicine, oncology, critical care II and women's/children's health.
