Residency Special Features:   Our residency program offers a flexible and tailored program for each resident with 28 different rotations, a teaching certificate through the SDSU College of Pharmacy, opportunities for publication, and multiple presentation opportunities. Required rotations include orientation, ambulatory care, critical care, infectious disease, internal medicine, and pediatrics/neonatology and longitudinal drug information, HIV, management, project, and staffing. Electives are available for antimicrobial stewardship, cardiology, family medicine ambulatory care, internal medicine II, medication safety, oncology, home infusion/home care/hospice/pain management, surgical ICU/OR, advanced management, clinical informatics, research, specialty pharmacy, and a longitudinal teaching certificate as well as leadership certificate.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Required documents (through PhORCAS): letter of intent, CV, official college transcripts, 3 references, optional photo. In your letter of intent, please also describe one situation in which you impacted a patient's medication therapy. References should provide 2 specific areas of improvement of the candidate.

Graduate or candidate for graduation of an ACPE accredited degree program or have FPGEC certificate, eligible for licensure in South Dakota, US citizen or permanent resident visa, or F-1 visa and eligible for OPT.

Site Special Features:   Regional Health Rapid City Hospital (RCH) is a nonprofit acute care community hospital licensed for 366 beds located in Rapid City, South Dakota. RCH is the largest hospital in a 350-mile radius and is a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, with South Dakota's busiest Emergency Department. Our hospital is part of the Regional Health System, which is comprised of more than 40 health care healing environments throughout Rapid City and the Black Hills region. The Inpatient Pharmacy is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and provides pharmaceutical services across a broad range of patient populations. Decentralized pharmacists are available on the medical, intensive care, orthopedic/neurology/surgical, cardiac, hospice, pediatric, and neonatology units. Remote pharmacy satellites provide services to pediatrics, NICU, surgery, procedure areas, the Cancer Care Institute, and Infusion Plus. Additional ambulatory pharmacy services include long-term care, hospice and home care, specialty pharmacy, transitions of care, HIV Clinic, Family Medicine Residency Clinic, home infusion, informatics, and retail pharmacy.
