Our residency program is designed to develop the clinical knowledge and skills of the resident to provide quality health care to a broad range of patients. Program offerings include required learning experiences in internal medicine, critical care, and clinical services (including antimicrobial stewardship) and elective opportunities in infusions, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and ambulatory care. Longitudinal learning experiences include drug policy, management, teaching certificate, research, and pharmacy practice. WRHS works closely with area Colleges of Pharmacy, offering opportunities to complete a teaching and/or research certificate program. Consideration is given to tailoring the program to the needs and interests of the resident.

White River Health System (WRHS) works closely with two area pharmacy schools providing rotation sites to pharmacy students. The pharmacy schools offer pharmacy residents opportunities for teaching and precepting students. WRHS started an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program in 2017. White River Medical Center hosts students in several health care professions including pharmacy, nursing, medical students and physicians assistants. WRHS serves nine counties, and in addition to the main hospital has a critical access hospital, standalone emergency room and multiple primary and specialty clinics throughout the region.
