Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2)pharmacy residency training.

This Pharmacy Practice Residency offers a variety of practice rotations to meet the needs and interests of the resident. The residency is designed to provide the resident opportunities to strengthen an array of clinical skills in a variety of settings and gain experience with a wide patient population. Residents gain experience in current clinical practices and initiatives in the inpatient setting and participate in patient care experiences in ambulatory clinics, hospital practice, emergency medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, cardiology, nutritional support, pediatrics and geriatrics. The resident is allowed additional opportunities for teaching medical staff and pharmacy students as well as Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Antimicrobial Stewardship certification. Residents are given teaching opportunities through the Clinician-Educator Teaching Certification Program and are appointed as Clinical Instructors for the Texas tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy. Residents additionally are provided distributive coverage in our inpatient pharmacy, IV room, and through clinical verification 2 days a week for 4 hours each day.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree; eligibility for Texas licensure; application, 3 letters of recommendation, official college of pharmacy transcript, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and onsite interview.
