The resident will be based at Northeast Baptist Hospital, but he/she will also complete rotations at all Baptist hospitals. The Baptist Health System Residency Advisory Council oversees training at all Baptist hospitals and there are >20 preceptors across the 5 hospitals.

Residency Special Features:   

This PGY-1 pharmacy residency has the following required rotations: (1) orientation and training for 4 weeks; (2) pharmacy operations and clinical services for 4 weeks; (3) critical care for 8 weeks; (4) consults and antimicrobial stewardship for 8 weeks; and (5) adult medicine and surgery for 8 weeks, (6) transitional care for 4 weeks, (7) anticoagulation management for 4 weeks, (8) neonatology and pediatrics for 4 weeks, (9) management and leadership for 4 weeks, and (10) elective for 4 weeks. Longitudinal experiences are 52 weeks and include: (1) pharmacy weekend staffing (every other weekend) and (2) quality improvement project. The resident will give an oral presentation of their project at the Alcalde Southwest Leadership Conference for residents, fellows, and preceptors and a poster presentation of their project at the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Annual Seminar. Additionally, residents will do a pharmacotherapy rounds at the University of Texas College of Pharmacy and can obtain a teaching certificate through this affiliation as well.
