Residency Special Features:   The program is designed to train selected, highly motivated and qualified pharmacists to compile, synthesize and analyze information and to communicate with healthcare professionals and patients in order to optimize drug therapy outcomes in hospitalized patients. The program emphasizes clinical practice and includes learning experiences in adult internal medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, medical oncology/neuro/inpatient rehab, critical care, emergency medicine, practice management/administration, project development and management, staffing, and more. Residents receive training and experience teaching and precepting pharmacy students, develop professional leadership skills, and develop lifelong learning skills. A residency project is a program requirement as is participation in the Teaching Certificate (PRSTL) Program.
 
Fringe Benefits:   Residents are offered all benefits provided to full time personnel. Funds may be provided to help offset travel expenses to selected state and national meetings.
 
Special Requirements for Acceptance:   PharmD from ACPE-accredited college or FPGEC certificate from NABP for International Track Faculty Scholars, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, eligibility for Arizona Licensure, pharmacy school transcript, and three letters of recommendations. Application submissions are to be completed in PhORCAS. This PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (81016) accepts applicants from both the Traditional and International Tracks. The Traditional Track NMS Code is 144213. The International Track NMS Code 144221 is for International Faculty applicants associated with the University of Arizona's International Program.
