Residency Special Features:   

Core rotations include adult emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine, trauma, burn intensive care, and toxicology. In addition, the resident will participate in several longitudinal experiences including toxicology, emergency medical services, research, and pharmacy practice management. Additional elective experiences including medical intensive care, surgical intensive care, burn emergency care, infectious disease, and psychiatry are available.

The resident is expected to complete a research project, case presentations, and a continuing education presentation.

The resident may also serve as a clinical co-preceptor for pharmacy students. The resident will participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee through the presentation of assigned projects.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Must have completed/currently completing an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, three letters of recommendation, CV, and a letter of intent.

Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) provides services to over 70,000 culturally diverse members of Maricopa County. Within the health system, the Department of Pharmacy provides services to a 325-bed full service teaching hospital (Maricopa Medical Center), a 190-bed acute care psychiatric facility (Desert Vista Behavioral Health Annex), and twelve outpatient clinics. Maricopa Medical Center is a Level I adult and pediatric trauma center. It is also home to the second largest burn center in the United States. The PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Practice Residency is offered by Maricopa Integrated Health System with a focused training at Maricopa Medical Center.
