Residency Special Features:   The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at EIRMC provides outstanding clinical practice opportunities in acute patient care areas. Pharmacy residents actively participate in multidisciplinary rounds and interact closely with providers, internal medicine residents, antibiotic stewardship team, nurses and other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes. Residents have the opportunity to collaborate with Idaho State University College of Pharmacy clinical faculty to develop and implement a quality-improvement/research project, submit for publication, provide didactic teaching in pharmacy program, precept APPE students, prepare for a board-certification exam, and obtain a teaching certificate.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Completion of ACPE-accredited PharmD program, eligibility for licensure in Idaho, college transcripts, CV, letter of intent, three professional letters of reference.

The primary training site for the residency is Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC), a 334-bed region's largest acute care healthcare facility and referral center located in Idaho Falls. EIRMC offers specialty services including level I ICU, level II trauma center, level IIIb NICU, pediatric ICU, certified primary stroke center, 74-bed inpatient psychiatric unit, and full-spectrum surgical services including minimally-invasive cardiac procedures. Clinical pharmacists participate in multidisciplinary rounds and provide excellence in patient care as part of a decentralized pharmacy model.
