The pharmacy practice residency gives in-depth experience in a wide range of pharmacy practice settings including ambulatory care, internal medicine, acute care, outpatient pharmacy practice, inpatient pharmacy practice, drug use management, and pharmacy administration. Residents present a formal continuing education program and complete a research project for presentation at the Western States Regional Residency Conference. The resident also acts as preceptor for pharmacy students during some rotations. Our program goal is to coordinate learning opportunities that foster the development of future leaders in pharmacy practice.

Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento serves a diverse patient population of well over 240,000 members in one medical center and five medical office buildings. Services provided include: Latino center, cardiac catheterization lab, helicopter transport, and intensive care units which include medical, surgical, cardiovascular, and a special care nursery. The facility's emergency department is the busiest and largest in the greater Sacramento area, and has a Level II Trauma Center designation. Our ambulatory care clinical services are well established collaborative practices with our physician's medical group. Ambulatory care services include Anticoagulation, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Diabetes, Cardiovascular Risk Reduction, Pain Management, Geographic Managed Care, HIV, Hepatitis C, Hospice, and Oncology.
