Residency Special Features:   The program is designed to develop clinical skills in the acute care setting through the practice of evidence based medicine and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The resident will have frequent interactions with independent attending physicians in all areas of specialty as well as family medicine residents and cardiology fellows training in electrophysiology. Required rotations include cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, orientation and transitions of care. Through longitudinal experiences the resident with have opportunity to mature one's own practice and better understand how to manage the medication use process. Residents will participate in a regional teaching certificate program and have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students. Residents will design and conduct a research project to be presented at the Western States Conference. Multiple electives exist with the opportunity to complete an elective experience at another Scripps location or an affiliated institution. Residents will participate in hospital committees designed to optimize medication utilization, improve processes and assure regulatory compliance.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. from an accredited school of pharmacy or equivalent experience, U.S. citizenship, California Intern or pharmacist licensure and eligibility for pharmacist licensure in California
