Residency Special Features:   MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center/Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach offer 2 PGY1 residency programs at our two hospitals located on the same campus. The purpose of the residency programs is to provide the highly motivated new pharmacist with a wide ranging experience in advanced pharmacy practice at a large not-for-profit community hospital with a well established clinical pharmacy program. There is specialized emphasis in clinical practice in adult and pediatric medicine, drug information skills, and clinical pharmacokinetics. Residents also are exposed to administration and medication safety. PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (NMS Code 140313): 4 positions. This general practice residency is focused on the management of adult and pediatric patients. PGY1 Pharmacy Residency with an Emphasis in Pediatrics (NMS Code 140325): 3 positions. This residency offers additional longitudinal experiences in pediatrics for those who desire a focus in the management of pediatric patients.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Licensure or eligibility for licensure in California, PharmD degree or equivalent clinical experience, and a minimum GPA of 3.2. Pharmacy services are provided through seven inpatient satellites, three ambulatory care pharmacies and one home infusion pharmacy. Teaching affiliations exist with UCSF, USC, Western University, UOP and UCSD Schools of Pharmacy.
