Residency Special Features:   This PGY1 residency’s core learning experiences include direct patient care in pharmacist-managed ambulatory care clinics and integrated interdisciplinary care within internal medicine and critical care rotations. A strong emphasis is placed on learning and incorporating evidence-based medicine to provide cost-effective therapy across the continuum of care. Program offers rotation flexibility within ambulatory care and hospital settings. Other activities include instructing Pharm.D. students, developing a practice-based research project, participation in adverse drug reaction reporting, drug use evaluations, formulary management, and drug-use policy development. Site Special Features:   The medical center is a progressive teaching hospital affiliated with UCI School of Medicine and UOP, USC, and UCSF schools of pharmacy. It contains medical and surgical, spinal cord injury, and psychiatry services, a nursing home care unit, and home-based health care. The large ambulatory care program covers over 50 general and specialty clinics. The pharmacy department provides outpatient dispensing services, inpatient unit dose, i.v. admixtures, TPN, and comprehensive clinical pharmaceutical care services.
