Residency Special Features:

The Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Residency Program is a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Practice Residency Program.

The Baldwin Park Kaiser Permanente PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program offers unique opportunities for residents to develop their skills in health care within a large managed care setting. We offer a team of dedicated preceptors who exemplify our motto, "Where you LEARN. Where you Thrive".

We provide pharmacy services in acute care, outpatient, and ambulatory care settings. The acute care pharmacy provides drug distribution and IV admixture services as well as clinical monitoring programs. The acute care pharmacists are actively involved in providing various clinical services such as therapeutic drug monitoring, TPN assessments, antibiotic stewardship, and comprehensive drug profile review. Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center also supports a variety of ambulatory care pharmacy clinical programs, including Anticoagulation, Heart Failure, Cardiovascular Disease Management, Medication Therapy Management, New Member Program, Renal Management, and Oncology Infusion Center. Pharmacists take an active role in numerous committees including but not limited to: Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Medication Safety, Integrated Complete Care and Drug Utilization Action Team.

PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

The purpose of the Baldwin Park Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy Practice Residency Program is to provide pharmacists with an advanced training to function competently with confidence in multiple healthcare environments such as acute care, ambulatory care, outpatient pharmacy, and administration/management. Pharmacists will refine skills in leadership, effective communication, collaboration, medication optimization, and clinical practice management in a dynamic healthcare climate. Upon completion of the program, pharmacists will possess marketable skills for the evolving job environment and contribute to the advancement of the pharmacy profession.
