Scripps Mercy Hospital, nation's top 100 hospitals, is the largest of 5 acute care hospitals in the Scripps Health System. Scripps Mercy is a teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center with 520-beds. The ICU consists of 10 Medical, 14 mixed surgical, and 8 mixed medical/surgical beds. We are also an Accredited Stroke Center. Annually we train 60 Medical Residents, 4PGY1 pharmacy residents and 20 pharmacy students. This specialized residency will train the resident to practice independently as an ICU specialist in a variety of practice settings such as medical, trauma, emergency medicine, and cardiothoracic surgical units. The resident will have the flexibility of selecting from various electives based on his/her interests including neonatal ICU, burn, neurosurgical ICU and transplant. The resident will independently precept students and PGY1 residents. Research design and publication is expected.
