Residency Special Features:   Scripps Mercy Hospital, is the largest of 5 hospitals in the System, and is nation's top 100 hospitals by USNews. It is a 520 bed teaching institution, with a Level 1 Trauma Center and Accredited Stroke Center. The Department of Pharmacy is decentralized with 9 clinical pharmacist practice sites (ICU, ED, Medicine, OR, Oncology, Psychiatry, Surgery, Trauma, Telemetry, Transition of Care) and over 25 clinical pharmacists. The pharmacy residents are “house-staff” with similar privileges as medical residents. Annually we train over 55 Medical Residents and ~15 Pharm D Candidates. The department of Pharmacy is also affiliated with 5 schools of Pharmacy. Residency has a strong focus on acute care and research with emphasis on publication. Residents attend monthly P and T meetings, precept pharmacy students, teach at UCSD School of Pharmacy and provide community service. They also participate and receive a teaching certificate.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   1. Graduate of Pharm D an accredited school of pharmacy and eligible for California licensure 2. BCLS is current during residency (AHA certified) 3. Site Special Features:   Scripps Mercy is centrally located in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. As part of a 5 hospital health system, resident can take rotations at all sites within the health system. Scripps Mercy is also affiliated with UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and residents provide didactic conferences during their year. They additionally participate in UCSD Free Clinic as Attending Pharmacists. Pharmacy residents are considered house staff and work in collaboration with medical residents. Active research and publication is conducted by the resident.
