Residency Special Features:   VAGLAHS offers a diverse hospital residency program with emphasis on clinical pharmacy practice and teaching. Available rotations include acute care medicine, ambulatory care, cardiology, geriatrics, ID, long term care, critical care, neurology, oncology, PBM, psychiatry, SICU/TPN, as well as opportunities in research, quality assurance, and administration. Experiences for select elective rotations are offered at other divisions within GLA, including Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center and Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center. Residents have ongoing teaching responsibilities to students and staff. Each resident must complete and present a research project as part of the requirement for completion of the program.

Site Special Features:   One of the largest VA medical centers in the nation, the VAGLAHS offers opportunities to participate in the most recent treatment options and research. The VAGLAHS residency was established in 1952 and is considered one of the first postgraduate pharmacy programs in the nation. In 1963, it became one of the first ASHP-accredited residency programs. The Pharmacy Service offers various clinical services in acute care, ambulatory care, long-term care, and drug information to the facility. Established academic affiliations with USC, UCSF, UOP, and Western University schools of pharmacy, as well as with the UCLA School of Medicine exist. Appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the USC School of Pharmacy is offered through an optional teaching certificate program.
