Residency Special Features:   *NMS Code: 509952 Major teaching hospital for UCSD's School of Medicine and Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS), and allied health professional programs. The PGY2 critical care specialty residency balances direct patient care, research, and teaching opportunities and is tailored to the individual. Primary service responsibilities include rounding with the Intensive Care Unit team, designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific therapeutic regimens that incorporate the principles of evidence-based medicine, addressing all pharmacokinetically monitored medications, as well as being an active member of the Code Blue team. The resident will gain experience as the primary unit pharmacist in all five adult ICUs at UCSDH. Teaching activities include leading conferences in the Critical Care elective (at SSPPS) and clerkship preceptorship of fourth-year UC San Diego pharmacy students. Independence and evidence-based clinical decision making will be emphasized.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Doctor of Pharmacy or M.S. degree from accredited pharmacy school; successful completion of accredited PGY1 residency; California licensure prior to starting. Please see website for specific instructions related to letter of intent submitted via PhorCas.
