Residency Special Features:   The residents will acquire advanced knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes needed to effectively deliver pharmaceutical care and strengthen leadership. The resident has an opportunity to gain a comprehensive experience in all pharmacy practice settings including outpatient, ambulatory care, acute care, renal services, HIV services, mental health, geriatrics, oncology, home infusion, drug information, infectious disease, and administration. Each year, the Program Director works individually with each resident to design a unique program to meet their individual goals and enhance their professional skills. The residents participate in P&T committee activities throughout the year, are active members of the pharmacy management team, and can serve as preceptors for pharmacy students during their rotations. Residents will be trained in physical assessment, ACLS, and leadership communication skills.

The Pharmacy Services at West Los Angeles offer a wide variety of pharmacist-run programs such as primary care, oncology, renal, anticoagulation, and inpatient services. Working under medical staff approved protocols, pharmacists may perform physical assessment, order labs, and initiate or adjust medications based on clinical judgment.
