Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the Pharmacy Residency Program PGY-1 at Kaiser Permanente East Bay Area is to train pharmacy residents to perform at the highest level as clinical pharmacists in a collaborative environment. After successful completion of our Pharmacy Residency Program, our residents will possess the skills needed to qualify for positions in virtually any practice setting including Inpatient, Outpatient and Ambulatory Care Pharmacies, industry, research, drug information, or further training in a PGY2 Residency Program. Residents will be able to independently function in multiple health care environments, deliver pharmaceutical care to patients with a variety of disease states, and provide life-long contributions to the pharmacy profession. They will be trained to sharpen their communication, medication therapy management, and medical informatics skills. Residents will also enhance their project management, practice management, and leadership skills through active participation in P&T and MUE committees. In addition, residents will participate in regional pharmacy trainings, precept students and conduct a year-long research project. Residents will gain an appreciation of related issues such as cultural competency, diversity and cost effective drug therapy management. At Kaiser Permanente East Bay, we aspire to train residents to become leaders committed to providing quality pharmaceutical care to the public and advancing the profession of pharmacy in the changing health care environment.
