Residency Special Features:   

The resident will have an opportunity to experience health care across the delivery system, as Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW) is part of the nation's largest integrated health care system. The managed care environment provides residents with experiences in Formulary Management, Drug Utilization Management, and Population-Based Care. The residency has an ambulatory care focus with opportunities for direct patient care in Ambulatory Care Medical Home, Medication Therapy Management, Team Based Care, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, International Travel, Anticoagulation, and Pain. We also have rotations across our system with Inpatient Glycemic Control, Intensive Care Unit, Transitions of Care, and Clinical Informatics.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:

The KPNW region serves members from Southwest Washington to Portland, Salem, and Eugene, Oregon. The residency is based in Portland, Oregon. We have 34 medical and specialty offices, 26 pharmacies, and two hospitals (Sunnyside Medical Center and Westside Medical Center). Our primary care medical offices are National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)-certified Patient-Centered Medical Homes. For six years in a row, KPNW was awarded the highest 5-Star rating for their Medicare health plans by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. KPNW was also ranked highest in member satisfaction in the Northwest region, according to the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Member Health Plan Study.
