The PGY1 residency provides broad clinical experiences ranging from internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, antimicrobial stewardship, oncology, critical care, pediatrics/NICU, infusion services, diabetes education, practice management, formulary management, safety, anticoagulation, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, and rural hospital. The resident has the opportunity to teach at the university level while earning a teaching certificate. All residents act as preceptors for pharmacy students, participate in P&T committee, write for the pharmacy bulletin, present continuing education to pharmacy professionals, and participate in community services. Residents complete a major project, present a poster at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, and present their project at a regional meeting.
