Residency Special Features:   *NMS Code 184013 - UWMC/HMC positions; NMS Code 184021 - Northwest Hospital. The PGY1 residency is a multisite residency program, which provides training in all aspects of advanced pharmacy practice: acute patient care, ambulatory patient care, drug information, drug-use policy development, public speaking, practice management, and teaching. the UW Medicine hospitals, including the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC), and Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, serve as primary sites for the residency. The resident can select rotations at all facilities, but will have some required rotations at their home facility. Required rotations include orientation/training (1 month), 3 acute care (2 months General Medicine, and 1 month Cardiology), ambulatory clinic (1 month + longitudinal), project (1 month) and administration (1 month) and 5 electives (1 month).

Residents who match with the Northwest Hospital & Medical Center site will complete bolded rotations at Northwest, and all other rotations can be completed at any UW Medicine site based on the individual resident's goals and interests.

Site Special Features:   Pharmacy services integrates clinical practice with fully computerized drug distribution, providing patient-focused care in a university teaching facility. UWMC and HMC serve as the major referral centers for Washington, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. The University of Washington is an integral part of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) along with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Children's Medical Center. The Medical Centers along with the SCCA are the primary teaching sites for the UW School of Pharmacy. Together, the three organizations foster an atmosphere for extensive, collaborative research.
