Our award-winning information technology features an EMR with CPOE, bedside barcode scanning, and fully integrated infusion pumps. Good Samaritan Hospital is a level III trauma center, a level I trauma rehabilitation center, and a level II special care nursery. The Emergency Department is consistently in the top three busiest emergency departments in Washington with over 75,000 visits annually. The pharmacy department provides clinical services to seven decentralized areas: internal medicine, cardiac, surgical, oncology/rehabilitation, critical care, progressive care, and emergency medicine. In addition, one infectious disease pharmacist oversees the antimicrobial stewardship program. MultiCare supports a multidisciplinary approach to patient care where the pharmacist is an integral part of the team. Pharmacists respond to codes and rapid responses, attend unit rounds where available, provide and administer medications used in procedural deep sedation, and prescribe under collaborative drug therapy management protocols (aminoglycosides, vancomycin, warfarin, TPN, renal dosing, IV to PO). Surrounded by saltwater shores and mountain peaks, Puyallup stretches across diverse landscapes ranging from bustling cities, like nearby Tacoma and Seattle, to sprawling farmlands and wheat fields. Mountain and water recreations are prevalent, highly accessible, and nearby. The annual Western Washington Fair held in Puyallup is ranked the sixth largest in the country with over one million attendees each year.
